Wayne Stewart was born a twin in Monticello, Kentucky. After domestic violence led to Wayne, his twin, and their sister being removed from their home, Wayne and his twin were adopted, while their sister was not. Those early experiences—of upheaval, separation, and finding a new beginning—helped shape the resilience and understanding of human nature that Wayne brings to his writing.
His adoptive family lived briefly in Ashland, Kentucky, before his father's work took them to Huntington, West Virginia. Wayne graduated from Huntington East High School in 1982.
Long before becoming an author, Wayne built a life through demanding, honest work. He cut tobacco and baled hay, drove and dispatched taxicabs, worked as a chauffeur, and spent time in the black-car industry. Each role introduced him to different people, personalities, and walks of life—experiences that gave him an observant eye for character and a deep appreciation for the stories found in ordinary moments.
That lived experience now informs a catalog that moves freely between science fiction, adventure, adult drama, dark comedy, and coming-of-age fiction. Though the worlds and circumstances may change, Wayne's characters are united by recognizable human instincts: the will to endure, the consequences of choice, and the search for truth when life takes an unexpected turn.
