Wayne Stewart’s Nanonaut Connects Prose and Comics Through One Science-Fiction Story

An adult novel and three young adult comic adaptations offer distinct reading paths through Jeremy Dodd’s transformation.

October 11, 2026 — Independent author Wayne Stewart’s Nanonaut offers readers a science-fiction story in two forms: one prose novel for adult readers and a three-issue young adult comic adaptation. Comic Issues #1–#3 follow the novel’s storyline in illustrated form; they are not prose sequels.

The story begins when an experiment in his father’s garage changes Jeremy Dodd from the inside out. Experimental nanotechnology transforms him, raising questions about what becoming more than human will cost.

The format distinction gives readers a clear choice. The adult prose novel contains sexual content, mature relationships, and strong language. The separate YA comic reading path focuses on science-fiction action, peril, and transformation themes. Readers can begin the comics with Issue #1 and continue through Issues #2 and #3 without first reading the prose novel.

For interviewers and arts editors, the project offers a creative-process angle: how a story moves from prose into sequential art, and how an author presents related editions to different audiences while keeping their relationship clear.

Official book pages include cover artwork, format information, and retailer links. A Nanonaut reading guide explains the relationship between the novel and comics and provides the comic reading order. The adult novel also has a free excerpt on the author’s website.
